Interview: Why I Entered The YorkTest Intolerance Test Competition

Mel was the lucky winner of the competition I ran in partnership with YorkTest and received a free Food&Drink Scan Programme worth £299.

YorkTest are Europe’s leading provider of food and drink specific IgG antibody testing programmes and were the intolerance testing service I chose earlier this year which identified my intolerance to dairy and cashew nuts.

Here’s what Mel had to say…

I have spent the last seven years with stomach problems. When I saw the competition, I entered thinking I never win anything but thought I had nothing to lose.

I’ve had several tests in the past, as well as visiting my GP many times and paying for a private consultant but each time, I’ve been told it’s IBS. I’ve been given lots of medication, had hair testing, muscle testing and lots of blood tests…all adding up to ££££!!

In terms of my symptoms, I am exhausted all the time and I am really struggling to shift some weight which I’m told can be due to an intolerance.

The results of my YorkTest came back with a cows milk intolerance and borderline egg white intolerance. To be honest, I expected it to be a lot worse! I wasn’t surprised that the results showed an intolerance to cows milk as I do enjoy chocolate ice cream etc. but the pain after eating it is horrible. Therefore I had already tried to cut milk out as a drink but I was told I need to be more strict. The YorkTest nutritionist explained that my body needs a break from the trigger foods for at least three months and then I can begin to reintroduce them. This should help with weight loss and my energy levels…fingers crossed anyway!

Good luck Mel!
